Two weeks old!

We have not only survived the first two weeks, but we have loved every minute of it. Well, maybe not every single minute...like the numerous times I've been peed, pooped or spit up on...but I suppose it's part of the deal, right? That must be why babies are made so cute--you will love them and think they are even more adorable no matter what they do to you (or on you).

These have been my first few days alone with Lucas since Monte went back to work Monday, and it has been great. He is such a good little baby and is growing and becoming more alert every day. We wake up around 7:00 and have breakfast while watching the Today Show, and then he usually takes another nap until it's time to chow down again. He loves to eat and never misses a meal--just like Daddy. After lunch he is always very bright-eyed and ready to play, so we have "tummy time" for a while. He has gotten so strong and is lifting his head up and turning it to the other side and basically crawling off the blanket. Here is a video of his exercising:

In addition to making daily videos for Daddy, I have been taking tons of pictures with our new camera (Canon Rebel Xsi), and they literally bring tears to my eyes because of the unbelievable quality. Monte purchased it for my "push present"/our 5th wedding anniversary gift, and we love it. Luke's baby book is already filled with photos, and I'm sure I will still be using this camera when he is walking across the stage at his college graduation. I'm thinking photography will be one of my hobbies while I'm off on maternity leave for 3 months. I can see it getting a little boring during the days while he sleeps, so I am trying to think of activities to keep myself busy other than watching television. I am open to any ideas or tips from those of you who have been on maternity leave...or those of you who can think of what you would do with 3 months off!

4 Shout outs:

  • I can't believe he is two weeks old already!! He is precious.

To be quite honest, I don't think I had any hobbies while on maternity leave. I only had 6 weeks, and I felt like they were sucked away in no time. I do believe I spent a lot of time just staring at the baby. Walks are also a good thing -- it gets both of you out of the house! I would enjoy your time of baby bliss because it goes so fast. (I am getting emotional just thinking about it.)

  • OMG!He is lifting his head! And he is so responding to his Mama's voice. Sooooo advanced. I think definitely poll vaulting techniques in the legs and knees.Seriously, he is pretty athletic. He'll be crawling in no time.
I am very turned on to Morning Joe on MSNBC in the AM. Especially with the election coming up, it's much more interesting than Today. See what you think,Rob turned me on to it. Love the video, and I can not wait to get my hands on little Lucus.
